Hidden Dynamics of Family Culture in the Workplace

BCODN partnered with Jalapeno Employee Engagement to deliver a thought-provoking webinar exploring the influence of family culture in organizational life. Using a mix of people analytics, interactive reflection, and breakout group activities, participants examined how family-like dynamics shape inclusion, communication, and productivity in the workplace.

Highlights from the Session:

  • Explored the four stages of psychological safety (Inclusion, Learner, Contributor, Challenger) and how family culture typically supports some while neglecting others.

  • Considered the pros and cons of family culture in teams, including trust and inclusivity on one side, and avoidance of conflict or constructive feedback on the other.

  • Worked through a case study highlighting how unspoken assumptions and lack of feedback loops can impact employees, leaders, and overall business performance.

  • Engaged in breakout discussions to identify root causes, quick fixes (“painkillers”), and long-term solutions for healthier workplace culture.

This event offered participants both conceptual tools and practical insights to help organizations balance the warmth of family culture with the clarity and accountability needed for sustainable performance.
