Assessing both Heart and Brain – A Holistic OD Intervention

Presenter: Eli Sopow

Generic OD diagnostic tools don’t work. Too often the organizational patient continues to suffer or get worse because not only the symptoms are mis-diagnosed but the underlying causes are missed altogether. In a world of complexity and change what’s needed is a holistic approach to OD that combines science with insight and experience with knowledge. This session presents a proven diagnostic tool called the LEADicator which quickly combines quantitative and qualitative research leading to custom-tailored grassroots transformation. In dozens of sessions employees emerged from the LEADicator with a new appreciation of core OD issues, identification of do-able actions, and direct involvement in organizational change.

At the end of this session, you will leave with:

  • A process to quickly identify key employee engagement strengths and gaps that directly influence an organization’s ability to achieve its key purpose,
  • A process to bring common understanding of key performance drivers to a workplace, and
  • A process to quickly identify what is within the immediate span of change control at a workplace.

Eli Sopow, PhD, is Director of Continuous Improvement at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (Pacific Region) and a member of the organization’s Centre for Strategic Research. Previously he served as Director of Research with the RCMP National Change Management Team. He is also Professor of Management (part time) at University Canada West. Dr. Sopow has so far conducted over 200 employee and public surveys and has been published in several professional and peer-reviewed journals. Three years ago Dr. Sopow and a team of OD practitioners at the RCMP developed the LEADicator process of linking employee engagement to an organization’s key purpose. Since then the process has been successfully used in dozens of workplaces throughout Canada. Dr. Sopow holds a PhD in Human and Organizational Systems, Masters degrees in both Leadership and in Human Development, and a Certificate in Peer Counselling. His past includes being a partner and vice-president with an international consulting firm and an Associate Deputy Minister with the BC government. His early career includes service as a business and political news reporter.

Conscious Leadership – An Integral Approach to Connecting Deeply and Inspiring Others

Presenter: Joseph Zepedeo with Staffan Rydin

We don’t see others as they are. We see them as WE are! There are four primary perspectives that human beings tend to see through and make meaning from; we call these our “ways of seeing”.

Typically one of these perspectives is favoured, a kind of “home base” from which we see and relate to everything; a place that shapes what we see in ourselves and in others and guides our thoughts, feelings and actions.

In this session, we will help you identify your favourite way of seeing and shed some light on potential blind spots. We call this ability Conscious Leadership. It encourages a new/wider way of seeing, one that helps you connect more deeply with others because you are more able to see them for who they are and meet them where they are at. From this new place, you can inspire others and help them reach their fullest expression.

At the end of this session, you will leave with:

  • A greater understanding of the four primary perspectives human use to make sense of the world around them,
  • Deeper awareness around your favourite way of seeing,
  • A new perspective on your potential blind spots, and
  • Practical applications of these insights that you can use in everyday work situations to inspire others and help them reach their fullest potential.
