The Lies We Tell Ourselves…
And Five Awareness Lessons to Correct Them
Friday March 2, 2007
8:30 AM – 12 Noon
Shadbolt Centre for
the Arts, Burnaby, BC
**Online
Registration is open now**
Besides being emotionally “dumb”, what is one characteristic that is shared
by gossip, blame, divorce, war, racism, homophobia, sexism, road rage, inter-group,
inter-personal conflict and falling in love?
They are created, developed, and sustained by the lies we tell ourselves.
You can catch yourself in the lie, and you can help your clients catch themselves-only
if you are aware. That is the goal of these five Awareness Lessons.
- You assume you live in one world . . . when you live in two.
- What you think is now . . . isn’t.
- Who you think you are . . . is not you.
- What you assume about the other . . . is about you.
- What you most dislike . . . you participate in maintaining.
The morning will be highly experiential, illustrating as many of the above
as time allows. You’ll not learn something new as much as discover truths that
are so transparently obvious and universally shared that you ignore them.
Expect to be active. Expect to be surprised. Expect to have a good time with
colleagues while discovering what we all have in common: the lies we tell ourselves.
