SESSION OVERVIEW FOR WORKSHOP 1:00PM to 4:00PM:

BCODN is proud to partner with BC Hydro to challenge the conventional thinking
of organization development with a half-day workshop on stakeholder engagement.

This workshop will be delivered by David Facey and Basil Stumborg from the
BC Hydro Stakeholder Engagement team and by special guest Michael Cheveldave
from NuOptics Consulting in Castlegar.

Stakeholder engagement shares many parallels with the OD work conducted within
and across organizations. BC Hydro’s Stakeholder Engagement team’s mission
is to create meaningful opportunities for stakeholders to contribute to BC
Hydro’s planning and decision-making, to demonstrate if and how that input
is used and to enable others at BC Hydro to do the same.

OBJECTIVES:

This half-day session will stimulate participants’ thinking, providing a valuable
opportunity to:

  • Understand the drivers for establishing BC Hydro’s stakeholder engagement
    team, the team’s core services, and examples of their work;
  • Preview a demonstration of some decision analysis work, specifically a
    tool that supports multi-attribute trade-off analysis;
  • Experience the effectiveness a technique based on the work of David Snowden’s
    Cynefin framework where stories are gathered as a means of connecting with
    stakeholders and making sense in complex environments.

For your convenience, the BC OD Network has instituted an online registration
system that allows us to streamline the registration process and to take
credit card payments online. This is a safe and secure system via SPORG Online
Registration Solutions. The SPORG site provides SSL security – all transactions
on the SPORG site are secure. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology is the
industry-standard protocol for secure, Web-based communications. In addition,
SPORG has a number of firewall layers between the SPORG database and the
outside world so your data is secure as well. They do not store any credit
card information in their database. SPORG utilizes all the most current technical
innovations to keep your information secure as well as utilizing proprietary
fraud detection processes to ensure the safety of your financial transactions.
